With Indian cities increasingly vulnerable to extreme weather events such as urban flooding, erratic rainfall, and severe heatwaves, the government is prioritizing robust infrastructure. Key focus areas include modernized drainage networks, water conservation bodies, and enhanced urban forestry.

Urban planners note that rapidly expanding metropolitan clusters, including Tier-1 and Tier-2 cities in southern states like Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, stand to benefit significantly from these climate-adaptive frameworks, especially in mitigating urban flooding risks.
