Locals in a mandal headquarters are suffering due to a dumping yard set up right in the middle of the village, posing severe health hazards. Questioning the irony of such a facility under 'Swachh Andhra', villagers say they are forced to plug their noses even while having their meals.
Expressing deep anguish, they note that smoke from burning waste is causing respiratory diseases. They lament that officials are blind to the severe hardships faced by residents, Anganwadi centers, and both government and private schools located in the vicinity. Even local ponds meant for cattle drinking are being filled with waste.
Despite repeated appeals to officials, no one has stepped forward to address the issue. The villagers are demanding that the dumping yard be immediately relocated outside the village as it was in the past, warning of protests if authorities fail to act.
