Hyderabad, September 20, 2026: Under the auspices of the Suhaarth Foundation, the “Chai with Saina – A Cup of Tea. A Conversation. A Cause.” event was successfully held at Medicover Hospitals in the Financial District, Hyderabad. Prominent figures, doctors, CSR experts, entrepreneurs, donors, social service leaders, and changemakers attended the event to express their support for sustainable menstrual hygiene, women's health, dignity, and awareness.
The primary goal of the event is to advance the Suhaarth Foundation's Mission 2030 — empowering 1 million underprivileged girls and women through sustainable menstrual hygiene, while working towards eradicating period poverty nationwide. A major highlight of the event was former World No. 1 badminton champion Saina Nehwal continuing her association as the Social Ambassador for the Suhaarth Foundation. Alongside Saina Nehwal, the foundation aims to drive broader discussions on menstrual health, hygiene, dignity, awareness, and accessibility among girls and women across the country.
Hiteshi Datta, founder of the Suhaarth Foundation and leader of this initiative, has earned recognition as the “Padwoman of India” for her work on menstrual hygiene and period poverty. The event was attended by Jayesh Ranjan, Nawab Rounak Yar Khan, Dr. Jayanthi Reddy, Dr. Manjula Anagani, Dr. Shilpi Reddy, Dr. Vimi Bindra, Dr. Aishwarya from Erayah Fertility, Dr. Prithvi Perum, Dr. Shalini Narayan, Dr. Nitin Chawla, Geetha Bhaskar, Shailaja Kota, Dr. Neelima Arya from Suman TV, Sudha Jain, and Bigg Boss 8 fame Sonia Akula (Sonia Yash), along with other CSR leaders, medical professionals, social service figures, and changemakers.
The event focused particularly on awareness and accessibility. Organic menstrual hygiene pads and sustainable menstrual hygiene awareness booklets developed by Suhaarth were distributed to girls from government schools. Through these booklets, age-appropriate awareness was provided to the girls on topics such as menstruation, hygiene, eco-friendliness, personal dignity, and POCSO awareness. Additionally, leading medical experts led discussions on critical issues including women's health, menstrual health, endometriosis, fertility, menopause, menstrual products, and the need for proper awareness among girls from a young age.
The Suhaarth Foundation aims to propel “Chai with Saina” forward not just as an event, but as a widespread social movement to enhance awareness and accessibility of sustainable menstrual hygiene across the nation.
