Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting Ashwini Vaishnaw stated that, inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision to take national-level events to the country's finest tourist destinations, steps are being taken to host National Film Awards ceremonies in prominent tourist locations across India.
Speaking to the media, Ashwini Vaishnaw said, "Inspired by Hon'ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, we are taking the National Film Awards to the country's best tourist destinations." He noted that Ekta Nagar has emerged as a globally recognized prominent tourist spot, with the world's tallest statue of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel serving as a special attraction.
He stated that visits to such renowned tourist locations by the President of India and prominent figures from the Indian film industry from across the country provide an opportunity for more people to learn about the region and increase their interest in visiting and experiencing it firsthand. The minister explained that their goal is to bring the National Film Awards closer to the people rather than limiting them to conference halls, while simultaneously promoting the tourism sector.
Ashwini Vaishnaw invited all states to identify and submit proposals for the best tourist destinations in their states for hosting the National Film Awards. He suggested that the proposals submitted by the states should include top-notch facilities along with a comprehensive 360-degree development plan for the proposed tourist destination. He stated that the next National Film Awards ceremony will be hosted in the tourist destination proposed by the selected state.
The minister recalled the occasion when India hosted the G20 meetings under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He mentioned that G20 events were taken to various parts of the country and held in multiple states. Similarly, as part of a broader vision to integrate the film industry and the tourism sector, efforts are being made to host the National Film Awards in various regions across the country.
Ashwini Vaishnaw stated that bringing cinema and tourism platforms together will benefit the respective tourist destinations. At the same time, he noted that the National Film Awards, instead of remaining confined to conference halls, will reach actual tourist locations in the country and come closer to the people.
