Bowenpally, Trinet News, September 7: A sensation was created after water worms were found in the sambar served to a customer at Mahavir Tiffin and Meals, located near the Tadbund Anjaneyaswamy Temple centre point in Secunderabad.

The customer, who noticed small worms moving in the sambar while eating, immediately brought it to the attention of the hotel staff and filmed a video of it.

Following the complaint, Cantonment Food Safety Officer Ashish Chauhan stated that he conducted an inspection at the hotel. He revealed that several lapses were identified during the inspection, and a report would be submitted to higher authorities for appropriate action in accordance with the rules.

On the other hand, the hotel owner stated that they have been in business for about 30 years and have never faced such complaints before. Acknowledging that worms were indeed found in the sambar, the owner said they were unaware of how it happened. They noted that officials had inspected the hotel and stated that action could be taken according to rules if any fault on their part is established.

In the wake of this incident, locals are demanding regular inspections on food safety and hygiene in hotels, tiffin centres, bakeries, and sweet shops across the Cantonment area. However, several individuals suggest that rather than blaming all hotels based on a single incident, every complaint should be examined with evidence to ascertain facts.

As public health is a matter of concern, citizens are appealing to officials to maintain continuous monitoring on food quality, kitchen hygiene, raw material storage, and food licenses.
