Amaravati, September 5 (Trinet): AP TDP Chief and Gajuwaka MLA Palla Srinivasa Rao stated that the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant is not just an industry, but a vital organization tied to the economic development of North Andhra and the livelihoods of thousands of families.
This morning, Palla Srinivasa Rao participated in a key review meeting on the plant's development at the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant administrative building, alongside MP Sribharat and plant CMD M.N.V.S. Prabhakar.
He stated that the coalition government's goal is to further strengthen the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant, which is currently on the path to profitability, and lead it toward development at full capacity. Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu is dedicated to the plant's development, holding discussions with the central government, and the government is taking special care to further strengthen the plant. He noted that it is a welcome development that the coalition government allocated Rs 14,000 crores for the plant's revival after coming to power, bringing plant operations back to normalcy. He made it clear that there is no need to worry about the plant's future.
Palla stated that they comprehensively discussed production, financial conditions, workers' issues, and displaced persons' matters with the CMD. He called upon officials and workers to collectively cooperate with the measures being undertaken by the management.
Palla stated that it was proposed in the meeting to do justice to the nearly 8,000 R-card displaced persons who gave up their lands for the plant's construction by giving them first priority in recruitment. Mentioning that the issue of workers' Aadhaar cards getting blocked due to certain reasons during past strikes was brought to the CMD's attention, he stated that the management expressed willingness to unblock them immediately.
Palla revealed that issues such as land disputes within the R&B road limits and the allocation of alternative lands to farmers as per court orders were also discussed in the meeting. Palla Srinivasa Rao stated that the government and management are working together to overcome the financial burden on the plant, increase production capacity, and build it into an even stronger organization in the future.
