Hyderabad, Trinet News, August 20: A commemorative meeting dedicated to the perennial philanthropist and Annapurna, Dokka Seetamma, was held under the series "Endaro Mahanubhavulu Madhura Smrutulalo" at the Kala Subba Rao Kala Vedika in Sri Thyagaraya Ganasabha. The event was jointly organized by Sri Thyagaraya Ganasabha and the Telangana State Department of Language and Culture.
Telangana's first Legislative Assembly Speaker and Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Council, Sirikonda Madhusudhana Chary, attended as the chief guest and inaugurated the program by lighting the traditional lamp. Speaking on the occasion, he lauded Dokka Seetamma as a renowned figure in the East and West Godavari districts, celebrated for her daily food donations and revered as Annapurna. He stated that she embodied the principle of "Atithi Devo Bhava" (Guest is equivalent to God), believing that no charity surpasses the gift of food in Indian tradition, and dedicated her life to feeding the hungry.
Sri Thyagaraya Ganasabha President Kala V.S. Janardhan Murthy presided over the event and noted that the Ganasabha regularly organizes birth and death anniversary celebrations of great personalities to pass on their history to future generations.
Senior journalist Jaisuryah, social worker Lion Dr. G.K. Ramana, Ganasabha Joint Secretary Tallapally Chakrapani, Kala Sharada Dikshitulu, and Sri Thyagaraya Ganasabha General Secretary, among others, participated in the event.
