Hyderabad, Trinet News, September 24: Deputy Chief Minister and Finance Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka and Tourism and Cultural Affairs Minister Jupally Krishna Rao have directed officials to formulate a comprehensive action plan to further develop the tourism sector in Telangana and transform the state into a prominent tourist destination at the national and international levels.
The Deputy CM stated that tourism development means not only developing tourist places by the tourism and cultural department, but also introducing the 'Telangana brand' to the world. He directed officials to take the state's tourism sector to new heights by increasing investments, employment, and income opportunities through public-private partnerships. On Thursday, Bhatti Vikramarka held a review meeting with senior officials of the tourism and cultural departments at Praja Bhavan in Hyderabad.
In the meeting, attended by Tourism Minister Jupally Krishna Rao, extensive discussions were held on tourism projects in the state, utilization of assets under the department's purview, budget allocations, private investments, preservation of historical monuments, and tourism branding.
Speaking on the occasion, the Deputy CM suggested expanding private participation alongside government investments in the tourism sector and developing new projects under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model. The Deputy CM advised utilizing the assets belonging to the tourism department efficiently instead of relying solely on government funds. He instructed officials to identify buildings, vacant lands, and areas with the potential for development under the PPP model and prepare a special list. He suggested undertaking measures to develop assets in a way that generates revenue while attracting private investments.
Global recognition for Telangana through tourism
He stated that temple tourism, eco-tourism, and hill tourism sectors in Telangana should be comprehensively developed. He suggested undertaking extensive branding and marketing programs to place the state's historical, cultural, spiritual, and nature tourism destinations on the global tourism map. He said special tourism circuits should be developed to attract domestic and foreign tourists coming to Hyderabad to other parts of the state. He suggested involving the private sector in the development of hotels, resorts, and other infrastructure in tourist areas.
Government support for the preservation of historical heritage
The Deputy CM clarified that protecting historical buildings and heritage wealth in the state is a crucial part of the government's responsibility. He said necessary government support will be provided for preservation, maintenance, and infrastructure creation in historical places like Ramappa. At the same time, he suggested exploring ways to increase revenue through new tourism projects. He instructed officials to maintain a balance between preservation programs to be undertaken as a government responsibility and development projects that can be undertaken with private participation.
Priority for 'Telangana Darshini'
It was discussed in the meeting to effectively implement the 'Telangana Darshini' program to increase awareness among students about Telangana's history, culture, and tourist places. It was suggested to create awareness among students about the state's heritage by taking them to historical places, museums, and prominent tourist spots. Officials explained that the objective of this program is to foster interest in the tourism sector from a young age and introduce the historical and cultural glory of Telangana to future generations.
Favorable environment for investments
Bhatti Vikramarka ordered officials to identify and resolve issues regarding attracting private investments for tourism projects. He suggested thoroughly examining issues such as lease policies, financial viability of projects, and investor interest, and preparing proposals on necessary changes. He directed holding joint meetings with officials of all departments wherever necessary for the development of tourism and cultural sectors to resolve issues. Bhatti Vikramarka made it clear that the government's goal is to develop the tourism sector by introducing Telangana's history, culture, and natural splendor to the world, while increasing investments, employment, and income.
Finance Principal Secretary Sandeep Kumar Sultania, Tourism Principal Secretary Vani, Finance Planning Secretary Gaurav Uppal, Finance Secretary Snigdha Patnayak, and others participated in the meeting.
