Trinet News | August 16: A horrific road accident took place in West Godavari district in the early hours of Sunday. A car lost control and plunged into a canal near the Aithampudi locks in Iragavaram mandal, resulting in four youths traveling in the vehicle going missing. Another youth managed to escape the accident and informed locals.
According to the police, the incident occurred when youths from Ogidi village were returning after attending a wedding ceremony in Peravali. Tragedy struck when the car lost control at the Aithampudi locks and drove straight into the canal. Immediately after the accident, locals alerted the police.
The missing youths have been identified as Pothula Lakshmi Bhanu, Rajaram, Nagireddy Duswanth, and Nagabattula Sai Surya. They are reported to be between 17 and 19 years of age. Rescue operations began promptly after Matta Santhosh, who survived the accident, informed the police. Upon receiving the information, police and rescue personnel rushed to the spot and launched search operations in the canal. Rescue teams are intensively trying to trace the missing youths.
Officials are examining the water flow in the canal and the conditions at the accident site. The incident has cast a pall of gloom over the families of the missing youths, who are anxiously waiting for news of their children. A large number of relatives and villagers have gathered at the spot.
