Hyderabad, Trinet News, September 12: The Telangana Cricket Association (TCA) has intensified its legal battle demanding full membership status for Telangana cricket. The TCA alleged that the current administrative system has become an obstacle to the development of cricket across the state. TCA General Secretary Dharam Guruva Reddy stated that they have approached the Bombay High Court and also submitted a comprehensive representation to the BCCI leadership and the BCCI Ombudsman on the 7th of this month.
He pointed out that while a city-centric association in Telangana continues to hold full membership rights, cricketers across 32 districts are denied equal opportunities. He urged the authorities to reconsider the 'one state-one full member' policy and reform cricket administration to ensure equal representation for all regions in the state. The TCA stated that under the provisions of the BCCI constitution, there is a need to thoroughly review the qualifications, financial affairs, administration, and governance policies required for the Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) to continue as a full member. It noted that the financial, administrative, and legal developments concerning the HCA have been brought to the attention of the relevant bodies.
Guruva Reddy stated that previous objections regarding club eligibility, representation, and the participation of certain clubs in HCA elections were also brought to the notice of the BCCI and legal institutions. However, he clarified that their struggle is not against individuals, but for institutional transparency, accountability, and financial discipline.
He stated that since 2014, the TCA has been working for the development of cricket in the districts and rural areas of Telangana. He emphasized the need to provide equal opportunities to young cricketers across all districts, including Adilabad, Nizamabad, Karimnagar, Warangal, and Khammam. He stated that a statewide system is necessary to enhance cricket infrastructure and opportunities for talented individuals at the district level.
Telangana cricket is not limited to Hyderabad alone, and their goal is to provide equal opportunities to every district cricketer in the state, Guruva Reddy said. He affirmed that they will continue to pursue their arguments regarding full membership before the courts, the BCCI, and relevant official bodies.
