AMARAVATI, TRINET NEWS, SEPTEMBER 23: State Deputy Chief Minister and Minister for Panchayat Raj and Rural Development, Pawan Kalyan, has instructed officials of the Panchayat Raj and Rural Development departments to remain on high alert in view of cyclone warnings and heavy rains across the state. Emphasizing that the cyclone's impact is expected to be severe in North Coastal Andhra, he called for immediate public alerts.
Pointing out that heavy rains could lead to damaged culverts, severed rural roads, and uprooted trees, he directed officials to formulate contingency plans to prevent any inconvenience to the public. He suggested that restoration works on damaged roads should be taken up on a war footing. In areas heavily affected by floods, officials were ordered to engage in setting up relief camps wherever necessary and take steps to evacuate people to safer locations.
He explicitly instructed officials to ensure an abundant supply of food, safe drinking water, medicines, and other basic infrastructure in the relief camps. Special measures must be taken to prevent hardships to cattle and other mute animals due to rains and floods, with a focus on arranging adequate fodder and water for them.
To effectively counter disaster situations, he ordered continuous coordination with various departments, including Revenue, Police, Electricity, Medical & Health, and Animal Husbandry. The Deputy Chief Minister stated that disruptions to power supply should be prevented, the highest priority must be given to the protection of human lives and property, and the situation should be reviewed constantly to take necessary action.
