Hyderabad, Trinet News, September 17:
Telangana Media Academy Chairman K. Srinivas Reddy stated that the people's government is successfully implementing various welfare and development programs, including the Mahalakshmi scheme, distribution of new ration cards, and providing Indiramma houses to the poor. He noted that the Telangana government is grandly celebrating People's Governance Day (Praja Palana Dinotsavam).
On Thursday, Chairman K. Srinivas Reddy hoisted the national flag at the Telangana Media Academy office in Nampally on the occasion of September 17. Speaking on the occasion, he recalled that people's organizations in Hyderabad had organized movements, public meetings, and gatherings, and rebelled against the autocratic rule of the Nizam to merge the erstwhile Hyderabad State into the Indian Union. He highlighted the armed peasant struggles fought against the feudal system of Razakars in the history of Hyderabad's merger.
Since negotiations with the Government of India failed, Operation Polo was launched on September 13, and the Indian Army besieged the Hyderabad State from three sides, following which the Nizam surrendered to the Government of India. He noted that September 17 holds great historical significance for this reason. He recalled that although India gained independence on August 15, 1947, the Hyderabad region achieved its liberation only on September 17, 1948. He stated that today's flag-hoisting ceremony is the result of the sacrifices and struggles of many individuals who participated in this historical journey.
He remarked that while some political forces are trying to use this occasion to provoke communal hatred, it should instead be remembered as the day of our liberation from the Nizam's autocratic rule. He recalled that numerous Muslim families, alongside others, lost their lives in the Telangana liberation struggle. He welcomed the state government's initiative to officially celebrate September 17 as People's Governance Day.
Furthermore, he explained that as part of future Hyderabad development, several initiatives are being undertaken, including the establishment of industries under the name 'Future City,' urban development, and the expansion of the sports, pharma, and IT sectors.
Media Academy Secretary Nagulapalli Venkateswara Rao, Manager Shaileshwar Reddy, staff members, and others participated in the event.
