Cantonment, Trinet News, August 31: Cantonment MLA Sri Ganesh said that sports enhance physical fitness, discipline, leadership qualities, and self-confidence. Attending as the chief guest, he inaugurated the 70th Under-19 inter-college sports competitions organized by the Hyderabad District School Games Federation at the Gymkhana Grounds.
Speaking on the occasion, Sri Ganesh noted that the age group of 16 to 19 is crucial for youth, and the decisions made during this phase shape their future. He advised students to actively participate in sports alongside their studies and to stay away from bad habits. He stated that sports improve concentration and help achieve better academic results.
He mentioned that sports competitions act as a great platform to bring out the hidden talent of students and help them rise to state and national levels. He added that sports certificates are useful for higher education admissions and under the sports quota for government jobs.
The state government is giving high priority to sports and taking steps to develop international-standard sports facilities in Hyderabad, he said. He promised to provide necessary support to the youth and athletes of the Cantonment constituency and do his part for the development of sports grounds. He wished that students participate enthusiastically in the competitions and bring a good name to their colleges, the Cantonment constituency, and Hyderabad district.
