HYDERABAD, TRINET NEWS, SEPTEMBER 17:

The Department of Agriculture has made necessary arrangements for the conference. The conference of southern states' agriculture and allied sectors, organized by the Union Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers' Welfare (DA&FW), will be held on Friday at Hotel Trident in Hyderabad.

The conference will be attended by ministers and senior officials from Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, and Puducherry, along with senior officials from the Union Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers' Welfare (DA&FW).

During the review meeting starting at 10:40 AM, Union Additional Secretary Dr. Pramod Kumar Meherda will review the progress of the Digital Agriculture Mission (DAM), the farmers' registry, and the Fertilizer Flying Squad (FFS) app. Following this, the Telangana government will give a presentation on the farmer-centric extension system 'Rythu Nestham', while the Andhra Pradesh government will explain strategies to combat climate change. Discussions will also be held on the progress of spices, cashew, cocoa, coconut, and horticulture sectors, alongside reviews of the Mission on Self-Reliance in Pulses, the National Mission on Natural Farming (NMNF), and the National Mission on Edible Oils - Oil Palm (NMEO-OP). Extensive discussions will also take place on controlling fake pesticides and fertilizers, and preventing the black-marketing of fertilizers.

As part of showcasing best practices, Karnataka will explain its pulses production methods, Kerala will share its experiences in agricultural procurement and marketing, and Tamil Nadu will present on modern precision and high-tech farming.

The concluding session will begin at 2:15 PM. ICAR Director General Dr. Mangi Lal Jat and Union Agriculture Secretary Devesh Chaturvedi (Atish Chandra) will present the summary of discussions. Afterward, the agriculture and horticulture ministers of Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, and Puducherry will address the gathering. Union Ministers of State for Agriculture Ram Nath Thakur and Bhagirath Choudhary are also scheduled to address the meeting.
