HYDERABAD, TRINET NEWS, SEPTEMBER 12: BC Intellectual Forum and BC Political Front Chairmen T. Chiranjeevulu (Retired IAS) and Balagoni Balaraj Goud have demanded that Backward Classes (BCs), who constitute 56 percent of the population, be provided adequate political representation.
Under the joint auspices of the Intellectual Forum and the BC Political Front, a roundtable conference was held at the Somajiguda Press Club on the theme '56 Percent BCs.. Where is Political Justice? Telangana Political Landscape.' MLC Madhusudhana Chary, former Minister Srinivas Goud, and leaders of various BC associations participated in the meeting.
Speaking on the occasion, Madhusudhana Chary stated that even after India gained independence, BCs have not achieved complete political freedom. He noted that the dominance of minority upper castes continues, while BCs, who form the majority of the population, remain backward in political power and economic sectors. He said that if BCs attain political power, economic and social justice will be served to all castes.
Former Minister Srinivas Goud said that there is a need for BCs to grow politically. He called upon all BCs to move forward unitedly toward political power, regardless of their differences in associations or parties.
Chiranjeevulu and Balaraj Goud revealed that resolutions were passed at the meeting to immediately allocate the currently vacant three cabinet ministerial posts to BCs, and to provide adequate representation to BCs in the three MLC seats falling vacant under the Governor's quota. They noted that communities such as Vaddera, Kummari, and Nayee Brahmin have not received adequate political representation so far, and demanded priority for these communities.
They stated that resolutions were also passed to assign a special unique code to every caste in the census, and to conduct awareness programs statewide on BC political representation. The meeting called for building a public movement with statistics against the political injustice meted out to BCs, and urged all castes, associations, and intellectuals within the BC community to move forward unitedly.
Telangana Vital and BC Political Front State Convener Aili Venkanna Goud, Katakam Narsing Rao, Erra Satyanarayana, Tadoori Srinivas, Neeraja, and Ambala Narayana Goud participated in the program.
