Hyderabad, Trinet News, September 18: State Transport and BC Welfare Minister Ponnam Prabhakar praised Shriram Finance Limited for providing merit scholarships to children of transport sector workers as part of its CSR initiative, calling it a commendable effort. On Friday, the minister attended the CSR scholarship distribution event organized by Shriram Finance Limited at the Tagore Auditorium in Osmania University, Hyderabad, as the chief minister and distributed scholarships to students.
Held with the objective of "Encouraging Young Minds - Paving the Way for a Bright Future," the event saw the participation of around 750 students, parents, guardians, and prominent figures. Notable attendees included Dr. G. Mukunda Reddy, IAS, Rakshitha K. Krishnamurthy, IPS, Kumar Molugaram, Shriram Finance Limited Joint Managing Director and Chief Operating Officer Sudarshan Holla Balnad, and others.
Speaking on the occasion, Minister Ponnam Prabhakar expressed happiness that children of transport workers are showcasing talent in education and rising to higher levels. He noted that the merit scholarship is not just financial assistance, but an encouragement to help students achieve their future goals. "Every student should set a clear goal in life. Whether you want to become an IAS, IPS, doctor, engineer, advocate, or leader, you must work hard continuously to achieve that goal," the minister advised.
The minister called upon students to dream, as suggested by former President Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, and to work hard to turn those dreams into reality. Noting that parents working in the transport sector are toiling for their children's future, he urged students to pursue good education, attain high positions, and bring dignity to their parents' hard work. "Consider the scholarship you receive today as a stepping stone and work hard to reach even greater heights tomorrow. Your success is the true tribute to your parents' hard work," the minister said.
Road Safety is Everyone's Responsibility
As part of the transport department program, the minister also raised awareness among the people about road safety. He pointed out that a small carelessness or negligence can plunge families into tragedy, and therefore everyone must follow road safety rules. "While driving a vehicle, we must keep in mind our own lives as well as the lives of others," the minister said.
Pledge on Road Safety
On this occasion, the minister, along with students, parents, and the public, administered a pledge on road safety. The minister gave a call, "Let us drive carefully... let us travel safely... let us save our lives and the lives of others."
