* Grow into job creators instead of job seekers: Governor CP Radhakrishnan. Osmania University, Trinet News, September 8: The 85th annual convocation of Osmania University was held grandly on Tuesday at the Tagore Auditorium.

Presided over by Telangana Governor and Osmania University Chancellor CP Radhakrishnan, the event was attended by Bharat Biotech International Limited Executive Chairman Dr. Krishna M. Ella as the chief guest. On this occasion, PhD degrees were awarded to 640 researchers, and gold medals were presented to 71 individuals who demonstrated outstanding performance in various departments. Vice-Chancellor Professor Kumar presented the university's annual report.

Speaking at the convocation, Governor CP Radhakrishnan called upon the youth not to merely seek jobs, but to grow into job creators. He stated that entrepreneurs and self-reliant youth are essential for the country's development. He suggested that society must make collective efforts to protect the youth from the adverse effects of drugs. He mentioned that the historic campus of Osmania University, spread across approximately 1,500 acres, greatly impressed him. Alongside congratulating the students who received PhD degrees and gold medals, he praised the efforts of their parents, faculty members, and research supervisors.

Chief guest Dr. Krishna M. Ella advised the youth not to limit themselves to educational qualifications, but to think towards new innovations, entrepreneurship, and finding solutions to societal problems. He stated that current students should carry forward the legacy of Osmania University's distinguished alumni, such as former Prime Minister the late P.V. Narasimha Rao, astronaut Rakesh Sharma, renowned film director Shyam Benegal, and former RBI Governor Dr. Y.V. Reddy. He called for giving importance to education in the mother tongue and utilizing modern technologies like Artificial Intelligence (AI) for learning, research, and creativity.

On this occasion, a total of 71 gold medals, including the Telangana Governor Gold Medal for the best PhD thesis submitted by an ST student in the English department, were presented. As many as 640 doctoral researchers belonging to various departments including Arts, Commerce, Education, Engineering, Informatics, Law, Management, Pharmacy, Science, Social Sciences, and Technology received their degrees.

Vice-Chancellor Professor Kumar Molugaram stated that OU is continuously striving for educational standards, research, innovation, and institutional development. He mentioned that steps are being taken to shape students and researchers to effectively face challenges in the changing world and to ensure that research outcomes are beneficial to society.

The event was attended by OU Executive Council members, deans, faculty members, researchers, students, parents, and distinguished guests.
