Hyderabad, Trinet News, September 09: The opposition found itself on the defensive during the assembly sessions due to the conduct of its MLCs, squandering a prime opportunity to corner the ruling party. With the Congress government nearing 1,000 days in power, a degree of public dissatisfaction exists over unfulfilled promises. The assembly sessions presented an ideal platform for the opposition to question the ruling party's failures during the Question Hour, Zero Hour, and resolution sessions. Having spent a decade in governance, BRS MLAs are well aware of which issues could effectively corner the Congress government.
For these sessions, BRS Legislature Party Deputy Leader Harish Rao, along with senior leaders KTR, Talsani Srinivas Yadav, Jagadish Reddy, and Prashanth Reddy, put in considerable homework to target the government primarily over its 1,000 days of administrative failures. However, discussions have begun within the pink party ranks that the entire plan backfired due to the aggression of party MLCs Tata Madhu and Naveen Kumar Reddy. Criticism is mounting even from within the party that the duo possesses an overly aggressive nature. Opinions are being expressed that their loss of patience, driven by a desire for media visibility, and their inappropriate remarks against Legislative Assembly Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar caused severe damage to the BRS party.
The ruling party successfully executed its sketch to keep the discussion focused on a single issue for two days. Furthermore, by sending a resolution to the Legislative Council seeking action against the concerned MLCs and having the two suspended until the end of the sessions, the ruling party managed to gain the upper hand.
Driven by eagerness to secure media highlights, some senior MLAs engaged in an aggressive approach, including a scuffle with police while entering the assembly on the opening day, followed by inappropriate remarks against the Speaker. Meanwhile, some newer MLAs engaged in arguments with the police to gain media attention, while others stripped off their T-shirts. It was clearly evident that senior MLAs encouraged such behavior. Political circles are discussing that it was inappropriate for former ministers to create a ruckus, threatening to enter the house half-naked by removing their T-shirts after police stated that black T-shirts with slogans would not be permitted inside the assembly.
