Hyderabad, Trinet News, September 12:

State Roads and Buildings and Cinematography Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy stated that the Nagpur-Warangal Greenfield Highway will be completed soon. On Saturday, the minister replied to questions raised by members Pochampally Srinivas Reddy and Prof. Kodandaram in the Legislative Council. The minister clarified that steps will be taken to provide an exit near the Parkal region, and he will issue orders to NHAI officials tomorrow to make suitable arrangements for the convenience of the public.

The minister explained that the Nagpur-Mancherial-Warangal-Khammam-Vijayawada highway is a very important route, and out of the total 310 kilometers of this project, 280 kilometers lie within Telangana alone. He noted that this road connects four to five districts and will be extremely useful for people traveling from Telangana towards Nagpur and Vijayawada. Tenders for the Mancherial-Warangal road were called by dividing it into packages; the Letter of Award (LOA) was issued on March 31, 2023, and the agreement took place on May 23. Initially, the target was to complete the project in 730 days, which is two years. However, due to land acquisition, court cases, and other reasons, the works were delayed.

He stated that land acquisition issues have been resolved. Only a small portion of land is pending due to minor issues, which will also be resolved soon. Due to the delay, an extension of time has been granted to the contractor, and it has been decided to complete the project by December 31, 2027. Union Minister Nitin Gadkari also specifically reviewed this project on May 26, the minister said, adding that Gadkari clearly stated how important this road is to Telangana, especially for people traveling to Nagpur.

He clarified that no injustice will be done to farmers regarding land acquisition, and measures will be taken to ensure they receive compensation according to market rates. The government has also taken into consideration the land acquisition issues raised by Kodandaram. Currently, land handover is pending in only one or two places—about 1 to 1.30 kilometers in one spot and 5.7 kilometers in another package—which will also be resolved soon. He explained that while land acquisition is the responsibility of the state government, all construction works are being carried out under the auspices of NHAI. As a nodal agency, the state government is providing full cooperation to NHAI. He stated that he will speak with NHAI officials and issue orders to immediately resolve the pending land acquisition issues.

Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy assured that this crucial road project will be completed and made available to the public by December 31, 2027.
