Natural Star Nani's pan-India period action entertainer 'The Paradise' has been produced on a grand scale by Sudhakar Cherukuri under the SLV Cinemas banner, with Srikanth Odela directing. The already released songs, glimpse, and teaser have received a phenomenal response, raising huge expectations. The film is slated for a worldwide release on September 24. Ahead of the release, Sampoornesh Babu, who plays a key role in the movie, shared his experiences in a press meet.
You surprised everyone with a character named Biryani, didn't you?
I got a call from director Srikanth, and I went to meet him. When he narrated the 'Biryani' character, it felt very unique. I haven't done anything like this before; it is very serious and completely different from all the roles I have done so far.
I am playing Nani's best friend in this. My character is present throughout the movie.
How did you feel about shifting from comedy to such a serious role all of a sudden?
If I had gotten a character like this three years ago, some of the mistakes in my career wouldn't have happened. Working with Nani anna and Srikanth was a wonderful experience.
I have never done such a big movie before. The makers placed a lot of trust in me, and I did my best to live up to it.
How was it working with Nani?
Nani made me feel very comfortable. This is the first time I have worked for so many days on such a big film. I learned a lot on the shooting set. Nani's dedication is amazing, and he used to appreciate me whenever I performed well.
We heard Sai Rajesh is the reason behind you getting this offer?
Yes. Sai Rajesh called me and told me I would get a call from Srikanth's office, asking me to speak nicely and take up the character. Sai Rajesh and Srikanth are very good friends.
You acted in Mohan Babu's banner, and now you are acting alongside him. How does that feel?
I am very happy. I waited for a long time to act with Mohan Babu. When they told me we have combinations scenes together, I felt extremely glad, like a long-cherished dream had come true.
What physical challenges did you face for this character?
They asked me to lose weight for the role, so I did. I also grew my hair and beard. I just followed whatever the director told me.
I decided not to do any other movie until the shooting of this film was completed. Even though I got a few offers, I told them I wouldn't take anything up until this was done.
How is your character actually going to be?
Just like how wonderful Paradise biryani is, the movie will be that amazing. My character will be even more wonderful than that. How it is will be seen by everyone on September 24 (laughs).
Director Srikanth designed every character with absolute clarity. Every scene and character in this has importance. The emotions and action in the film are going to be terrific.
The songs 'Aaya Share' and 'Aesha Nagula Katta' have received an amazing response. Everywhere you go, you only hear these songs.
What about producer Sudhakar?
The producer took great care of us and produced the film on a grand scale. The world-building is extraordinary.
I am very happy regarding remuneration as well. I received the highest remuneration in this film compared to all the movies I have done so far.
About new movies?
I want to do different roles. An announcement regarding an interesting project will be made soon.
