HYDERABAD, TRINET NEWS, SEPTEMBER 21: Transport and BC Welfare Minister Ponnam Prabhakar held a high-level review meeting with senior officials at his quarters to discuss various welfare and educational programs implemented by the BC Welfare Department. The Minister extensively discussed the application process and implementation of the 'Intinta Indiramma Sewing Machines' scheme for BC women, as well as the performance of BC residential schools and hostels, and the facilities being provided to students.
Officials informed the Minister that 4,06,000 applications have been received so far under the 'Intinta Indiramma Sewing Machines' scheme. Since the application collection process for sewing machines concludes on the 30th of this month, the Minister instructed officials to complete the process efficiently to ensure eligible BC women receive the benefits of the scheme.
Quality Education and Nutritious Food in Gurukulas and Hostels
The Minister inquired about the functioning of Mahatma Jyotirao Phule Telangana Backward Classes Welfare Residential Educational Institutions and BC hostels. He directed officials to provide quality and nutritious food to students according to the government-prescribed menu. He suggested organizing sports and cultural activities alongside the curriculum for students. The Minister urged students and teachers to coordinate and work towards achieving better pass percentages this year compared to the previous year. The meeting extensively discussed improving educational standards, creating infrastructure, prioritizing sports, staff recruitment, digital education, higher education, employment opportunities, and coordination with caste associations in residential schools and hostels.
Measures for the Economic Development of BCs
Minister Ponnam Prabhakar stated that all necessary steps will be taken to improve the financial condition of BCs. He stated that skill development and coaching for competitive exams are being provided through BC Study Circles to offer quality training to BC students. He instructed officials to create necessary opportunities for students to develop their talents in various fields alongside their studies.
Focus on Constructing Own Buildings for Residential Schools
Officials informed the Minister that out of a total of 327 BC residential schools in the state, only 21 currently have their own buildings. Given that the remaining residential schools are operating in rented buildings, the Minister directed officials to coordinate with district collectors to acquire land for constructing permanent buildings for residential schools in various districts. The Minister stated that he will discuss with Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka to ensure necessary funds are allocated for constructing buildings for residential schools where land is already available. He also instructed officials to maintain cleanliness in the surroundings of BC residential schools and hostels at all times, providing a pleasant and healthy environment for students.
Minister Ponnam Prabhakar advised officials to work in coordination to ensure BC welfare schemes reach every eligible person. BC Welfare Department Principal Secretary Bala Mayadevi, BC Welfare Department officials Mallayya Battu, Alok Kumar, Srinivas Reddy, and others participated in the review meeting.
