Hyderabad, Trinet News, September 08: The All India Tribal JAC has appealed to the party leadership to appoint Mahabubabad MP Porika Balram Naik as the president of the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC).
A meeting was held at Osmania University under the leadership of All India Tribal JAC State President Suresh Naik, with JAC Chairman Ravinder Naik attending as the chief guest.
Speaking on the occasion, Ravinder Naik stated that the Banjara community has a population of approximately 15 crore nationwide, while the government has officially recognized 25 lakh Banjaras in Telangana. He noted that the Lambada and Banjara communities played a crucial role in bringing the Congress party to power in the state. However, he lamented that these communities have not received adequate respect, priority, or a cabinet ministerial position in the current government.
He urged AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge, Sonia Gandhi, and Rahul Gandhi to deliberate and unanimously appoint senior Congress leader Porika Balram Naik as the TPCC president. He requested appropriate representation for the Banjara community within the Congress party nationwide. Pointing out that the Congress party has previously given state presidency posts to SC, BC, and minority communities in Telangana, he noted that the ST community has not received this opportunity yet. On behalf of Lambadi associations, he requested that TPCC presidential responsibilities be handed over to Balram Naik, a loyalist of the Congress party.
The event was attended by student union leaders Ravi Naik, Praveen Naik Maloth, Suresh Naik, Gopi Naik, Sneha, Swapna, Ramesh, Prakash, LHPS leader Rukminibai, TRPS leader Sandhyabai, Tribal Welfare Association leaders Korra Lakpati, Chandulal Rathod, Bhukya Bhaskar Naik, and Congress leaders Shankar Naik, Rangalal Naik, and Gugulothu Sriram Naik, among others.
