Ravindra Bharati, Trinet News, September 6: Three prominent personalities have been selected for this year's Ponnam Satthaiah Lifetime Achievement Awards, instituted by the Ponnam Satthaiah Charitable Trust in memory of State Minister Ponnam Prabhakar's father.
Trust Vice President Ponnam Ashok Goud announced that M. Kodanda Reddy, Chairman of the State Agriculture and Farmers' Welfare Commission, for his exceptional work in agriculture; Velichala Kondala Rao in the field of literature; and Gotte Kanakavva for her remarkable services in the arts have been chosen for the awards this year.
A jury committee, led by Dr. Ponnam Ravichandra as Convener and comprising former Central Information Commissioner Madabhushi Sridhar, prominent journalist Dileep Reddy, Civil Supplies Director G.V. Shyamprasad Lal, BC Study Circle Director Dr. Mamidi Harikrishna, and writer Ainampudi Srilakshmi as members, finalized the list. The selection list was handed over to Charitable Trust Chairman Ponnam Prabhakar on Sunday.
Starting this year, the agricultural sector has also been included in the scope of the awards, and an award will be presented for the first time to an individual who has rendered distinguished service in agriculture.
Ponnam Ashok Goud stated that a special event will be held at Ravindra Bharati on the 13th of this month, marking the 16th death anniversary of Ponnam Satthaiah. During this program, each of the three awardees will be presented with a cash prize of Rs. 50,000, along with a memento and a citation.
He added that the primary objective of these awards is to honor talented individuals who are contributing significantly to society across various fields, while carrying forward the ideals of Ponnam Satthaiah.
