New Delhi, September 23 (Trinet News): The 13th bilateral maritime naval exercise between India and Sri Lanka, 'SLINEX-26', concluded in Visakhapatnam on September 21. Held from September 17 to 21, the exercise provided an opportunity for naval personnel from both nations to discuss professional subjects and share best operational practices, further enhancing coordination and interoperability between the two navies.
During the harbor phase of the exercise, professional discussions, cross-ship visits, and sports events were conducted between the Indian Navy and the Sri Lankan Navy. The sea phase featured coordinated naval maneuvers, aerial operations, and nighttime replenishment-at-sea drills. Special forces demonstrated 'Visit, Board, Search, and Seizure' (VBSS) operations—involving boarding, inspecting, and securing vessels—along with helicopter-borne 'slithering' operations.
These exercises contributed to improving operational coordination and mutual cooperation capabilities between the forces of both countries. 'SLINEX-26' stood as a testament to the strong maritime partnership between India and Sri Lanka, reflecting their shared commitment to building a secure and stable Indian Ocean Region.
By fostering maritime cooperation, interoperability, and capacity building, the exercise further reinforced India's 'SAGAR' vision and 'Neighbourhood First' policy.
