In view of the meteorological department's warning that heavy to very heavy rains are likely to lash the state for the next two days due to a low-pressure system, State Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy has directed collectors of districts under red alert to remain on high alert.
He advised officials to focus specially on Peddapalli, Jayashanker Bhupalpally, Mulugu, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Khammam, Mahabubabad, Warangal, and Hanamkonda districts, and to undertake proactive rescue measures. He instructed them to continuously monitor the situation in low-lying areas, streams, tanks, and flood-prone zones, and to keep officials ready to evacuate people to safer places wherever necessary.
The Minister ordered the collectors to set up 24-hour control rooms and toll-free numbers in every district to provide immediate assistance to the public. He directed the district machinery to work in coordination to respond promptly to complaints from citizens during emergencies.
He appealed to the public not to step out unless absolutely necessary and to steer clear of streams, tanks, and flowing floodwaters.
