HYDERABAD, RAVINDRA BHARATI, TRINET NEWS, AUGUST 27: Senior IAS officer and author Parikipandla Narahari has urged governments to focus specially on the aspirations and rights of OBCs and work towards their implementation. He cautioned that if governments do not wake up before the nationwide struggle of OBCs—demanding their rightful share in politics, education, and employment proportionate to their population—turns into a major storm, the nature of the movement could transform dangerously.
The felicitation event for Padmashali community sarpanchs and the book release of 'OBCila Porubata - 2', authored by senior IAS officer Parikipandla Narahari, was jointly organized on Thursday at Ravindra Bharati by Jana అధికార Samithi (Jana Adhikara Samithi) and BC Times. BC Intellectual Forum Chairman and retired IAS officer Chiranjeevulu introduced the book, which was formally released by retired DGP Purna Chandra Rao, Janasena State Official Spokesperson Mulikuntla Sagar, former MLA and senior Congress leader Eravatri Anil, Weavers Corporation Chairman Guduri Srinivas, Handicrafts Corporation Chairman Venkatraman, BC Times President Suryarao, Jana Adhikara Samithi President Cherala Narayana, General Secretary Krishnamurthy, Treasurer Keerthi Nagarjuna, and members Parikipandla Sumanth, Parikipandla Ram, Thitla Ramesh Babu, Mittapalli Rajendra Kumar, Jagiri Srikanth, Guna Sagar Neta, Moogala Mahesh Patel, and others.
Speaking later, Narahari called upon the Padmashali community, and BCs in particular, to enter politics. He suggested that as delimitation is underway, governments should be urged to provide one-third reservations for BCs in legislative bodies or restore dual representation as in the past. He encouraged Padmashali sarpanchs to work with the ambition of growing into good political leaders in the future and entering legislative bodies. He expressed confidence that a BC Chief Minister in Telangana is certain. He expressed happiness in felicitating the Padmashali sarpanchs who won amidst intense competition.
Jana Adhikara Samithi President Cherala Narayana stated that IAS officer Parikipandla Narahari has been working for the upliftment of BC communities for the past decade and promoting social awakening under his guidance.
Former DGP Purna Chandra Rao suggested that protests should be staged from the village level using social media as a platform with the slogan that the Modi government must halt the census until a special caste code is given to BCs. He called for questioning governments with the fighting spirit of Konda Laxman Bapuji.
Chiranjeevulu noted that out of India's population of 1.4 billion, 800 million are OBCs. He lauded IAS Parikipandla Narahari for writing 'OBCila Porubata - 2' to provide complete awareness on the conditions and rights of OBCs. He stated that the book captures the thoughts and aspirations brewing within OBC communities. He added that the book details several demands, including reservations for OBCs in legislatures, increasing local body reservations to 67 percent, proportional allocation in higher education and employment based on population, and scientific implementation of EWS reservations. He said the book was written to help BCs achieve their goals, share political power, strengthen leadership, and march forward collectively.
Former MLA Eravatri Anil stated that the Congress government has conducted a caste census by providing a code for BCs, making the population of each section crystal clear. He said the Congress government has fulfilled the promise made to the people and demanded that the central government also conduct a caste census and fulfill its promise to BCs.
Later, 165 Padmashali sarpanchs were felicitated with floral garlands, shawls, and mementos. BC Welfare Association National Vice President Gujja Satyam, Telangana Vital, Tolivelugu Raghu, BC Samaj Honorary President Vijayakumar, State Secretary Manikar Vijay, and others participated in the event.
