Hyderabad, Trinet News, September 1: BRS Party Deputy Floor Leader and former minister, Sanathnagar MLA Talasani Srinivas Yadav, called for a strong lesson to be taught to the Congress government, which he accused of playing with the lives of lakhs of students in the state.
Urging pressure on the government to immediately release fee reimbursement and scholarship arrears, a large number of students under the auspices of ABVP took out a rally and met Talasani Srinivas Yadav at his camp office in West Marredpally to submit a representation.
Speaking on the occasion, Talasani Srinivas Yadav recalled that late Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy had introduced fee reimbursement with the vision of preventing financial hurdles in the higher education of poor students. He noted that even after KCR became Chief Minister, scholarships and fee reimbursements were paid on time without causing any inconvenience to students.
He slammed the Revanth Reddy government for accumulating arrears of around Rs 11,000 crore since coming to power. He expressed anguish that due to non-payment of dues by the government, educational institution managements are withholding certificates upon course completion. Consequently, not only the students but also their parents are suffering from severe mental distress, he said.
He announced that the BRS party will stand by the students in their struggles for the resolution of their problems. He stated that pressure would be exerted on the government during the assembly sessions starting from the 7th of this month to clear the arrears. He called upon students to realize that problems can only be resolved through united struggles.
Stating that the central government shook and a union minister was forced to resign due to the protests staged by Gen Z over the NEET question paper leak, he urged students to prepare for a battle against the Congress government with the same spirit.
ABVP leaders Balu, Abhinay, Gautam, Revanth, and others were among those who submitted the representation to the MLA.
