Four to five alternative sites will be examined, and further action will be taken following the technical report, assured the Union Minister. State Agriculture Minister Tummula Nageswara Rao met with Union Civil Aviation Minister Kinjarapu Rammohan Naidu in New Delhi on Tuesday.
Speaking after the meeting, Minister Tummula stated that as two previously examined sites were found unsuitable for airport construction due to technical reasons, four to five alternative sites have recently been identified. He mentioned that the central team will conduct a field-level inspection of these locations to assess geographical and weather conditions, along with the technical feasibility required for airport construction.
Minister Tummula stated that Union Minister Rammohan Naidu assured that the central government will take necessary further steps for the establishment of the Kothagudem airport once the central technical team submits a favorable report. He noted that Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy is likely to discuss proposals for the Mamnoor (Warangal) and Adilabad airports in Telangana with the central government on September 2.
Minister Tummula recalled that Union Minister Rammohan Naidu's father, the late Yerran Naidu, was his long-time friend. He stated that he explained the significance of the region, which houses the Bhadrachalam Sri Sitaramachandra Swamy Temple, and the necessity of an airport for the district's people to the Union Minister.
“I brought the long-standing aspiration of the people of Bhadradri Kothagudem district to the notice of the Union Minister. I thank Union Minister Rammohan Naidu and the central government for responding positively to my request and immediately taking steps to dispatch a central technical team,” stated Minister Tummula Nageswara Rao.
