The Telangana government is moving closer to finalising a structured policy framework to replace the decades-old GO 111 governing the catchment zones of the Osmansagar and Himayatsagar reservoirs. The proposed blueprint is slated for formal discussion and review in the upcoming state cabinet meeting.
According to official sources, the draft framework has been meticulously designed to balance ecological preservation of the twin drinking water sources with sustainable, regulated urban growth in the surrounding mandals. Officials emphasize that safeguarding water purity remains a top priority while addressing local developmental needs.
Key ministers are expected to evaluate the potential environmental and infrastructural impacts during the deliberations. A formal nod from the cabinet will pave the way for rolling out the new regulations, marking a significant policy shift for the outskirts of Hyderabad.
