Suryapet District Bureau, September 15: State Irrigation and Civil Supplies Minister Capt. N. Uttam Kumar Reddy stated that there is a need to establish a strong and continuous connection between educated unemployed youth in rural areas and leading industrial organizations. He noted that while rural youth lack no talent, the main problem is the lack of a proper platform to access employment opportunities in the organized sector. He stated that the government is moving forward with systematic action to bridge this gap.
On Tuesday, a review meeting was held at the Suryapet District Collectorate regarding the arrangements for the mega job mela to be organized in Kodad on September 19, with company representatives, educational institution representatives, and local officials. Speaking on the occasion, he said that unemployment among educated youth is one of the most severe problems plaguing society, and the situation of rural youth is particularly alarming. Parents spend beyond their financial capacity to educate their children in engineering, pharmacy, polytechnic, ITI, degree, and various vocational courses, only to experience deep anguish when their children fail to secure suitable jobs after completion of their studies, he noted.
Recalling his long public life as an MLA, MP, Minister, and TPCC President, he said he has met many such parents. He pointed out that an engineering or vocational graduate who studied in a village does not have the same opportunity to approach prominent companies as a youth living in Hyderabad. Finding job vacancy details, approaching renowned organizations, repeatedly traveling to Hyderabad, and attending interviews are becoming major financial and social challenges for rural youth, he said. If rural youth cannot easily reach prominent companies, those companies must be brought to the doorstep of rural youth. That is the main objective of the Kodad Mega Job Mela, he emphasized.
He stated that this job mela is an effort to bring together the skills required by industries, the qualifications provided by educational institutions, and the talent present in youth onto a single platform. He said that rural unemployed youth will be given the opportunity to meet representatives of various organizations under one roof and prove their talent. He mentioned that arrangements are being made to allow candidates to attend interviews in up to five companies individually, according to their educational qualifications and skills.
He revealed that around 300 companies have been invited to the Kodad job mela. Prominent organizations from Hyderabad and various industrial areas, as well as industries operating in the combined Nalgonda district, are being made partners in this, he explained. He said that talks are underway with several prominent organizations belonging to cement, manufacturing, services, IT, pharma, construction, and business sectors, alongside Apollo Group, GMR, Ramky, and Mahindra & Mahindra. He directed the industries department officials to personally approach and ensure that every industry operating locally participates in the job mela.
This recruitment program is being organized with the coordination of the state government, the industries department, and Singareni Collieries, he stated. The Minister said that the job mela is likely to provide employment opportunities to over 3,500 youth. Special arrangements are being made to distribute offer letters at the job mela venue itself, as far as possible, to candidates selected in the interviews, he added. State Industries Minister Duddilla Sridhar Babu will attend as the chief guest and hand over offer letters to the selected candidates, he announced.
Officials explained to the Minister that bulk messages about the job mela have already been sent to about 1.5 lakh job seekers. They advised candidates to register online through the QR code being extensively promoted. The QR code is being taken down to the village level through press releases, pamphlets, posters, and social media, they said.
Foolproof Arrangements for the Job Mela
Since a large number of youth are expected to turn up for the job mela, police officials were directed to formulate a foolproof plan regarding traffic and parking. It was suggested to regulate vehicle movement up to about 200 meters on both sides of the main venue and create conducive conditions for candidates to walk easily. Special arrangements for company representatives have been made, and the coordination responsibilities for transport, accommodation, and food facilities have been assigned to the RDOs of Kodad, Huzurnagar, and Suryapet, he stated.
He expressed hope that the Kodad Mega Job Mela should not remain just a one-day recruitment program, but stand as a permanent and replicable model for other regions, connecting rural talent with educational institutions and the organized industrial sector. He emphasized that the goal of this job mela is to realize the journey of youth from the classroom to the interview room, and from there to the employment offer letter, all on a single platform.
Kodad MLA N. Padmavathi Reddy, Tungaturthi MLA Mandula Samel, MLC Shankar Naik, Suryapet District Collector Tejas Nandlal Pawar, District SP K. Narasimha, along with officials from various departments, educational institutions, and company representatives participated in the meeting.
