The Congress and BRS governments have crippled the fee reimbursement scheme, jeopardizing students' futures. BJP State President N. Ramachandar Rao will undertake a 48-hour hunger strike on the 24th and 25th of this month to demand the immediate release of fee reimbursement arrears to protect students' futures, announced BJP State General Secretary Veerender Goud.
Addressing a press conference at the state office, he was joined by State Vice President and former Mayor Banda Karthika Reddy, State BJYM President Ganesh Kundhe, and other youth wing leaders.
Governments playing with students' futures:
Veerender Goud expressed deep concern that the fee reimbursement system in the state has completely collapsed. He criticized both the previous BRS government led by KCR and the current Congress government led by Chief Minister and Education Minister Revanth Reddy for completely debilitating the scheme. Due to the failure of governments to release funds, the education of about 20 lakh students has fallen into a severe crisis, he noted. He expressed anguish that students from SC, ST, BC, minority, and poor families are facing severe hardships; although they have completed higher education, their certificates remain stuck in colleges, forcing them to lose employment opportunities.
Intense BJYM struggle – Collection of 5 lakh student signatures:
Responding to this educational crisis and at the call of State President Ramachandar Rao, the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) visited educational institutions across every mandal and district in the state to directly understand students' problems. To demand a solution to the fee reimbursement issue, signatures from nearly 5 lakh students have been collected so far and submitted to the state leadership.
Police restrictions undemocratic – Fast to be held at BJP office:
Goud strongly condemned the police denial of permission for the democratic hunger strike planned by BJP State President N. Ramachandar Rao for students' rightful demands. He recalled that in the past, protests and fasts on students' and public issues were held at Indira Park or Dharna Chowk under the leadership of Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy, Rajya Sabha MP Dr. K. Laxman, and Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay Kumar. It is regrettable that when a fast is now undertaken for student issues, the Congress government is using the police to deny permission, he stated.
Asserting that the BJP will not step back due to government crackdowns and restrictions, he clarified that as scheduled, Ramachandar Rao will undertake the hunger strike on the 24th and 25th of this month within the parking premises of the BJP state office. Veerender Goud affirmed that the BJP will always stand by the student community of Telangana and wage an uncompromising struggle until students' problems are resolved. He called upon students not to lose heart, assuring that the BJP will fight to the fullest extent for the resolution of their problems.
