Hyderabad, Trinet News, September 10: Health Minister Damodar Rajanarsimha stated that a new Employees Health Scheme is being implemented to provide better medical services to state government employees, pensioners, and their family members. The minister replied to questions raised by MLCs in the Legislative Council on Thursday regarding this matter.
The minister stated that the scheme has come into effect from July 17. He mentioned that a new Employees Health Scheme Trust (EHCT) has been established under the chairmanship of the Chief Secretary. This 30-member trust consists of 10 members from employee associations, 3 members from pensioner associations, and 16 members from the government.
The minister explained that employees and pensioners contribute 1.5 percent of their basic pay or last drawn pension, amounting to Rs. 44 crore per month, and an equal amount of Rs. 44 crore is contributed by the government, generating a total of Rs. 88 crore per month. He stated that the annual budget for this scheme is Rs. 1,056 crore.
Medical Treatment in 921 Hospitals
The minister stated that inpatient medical services are available in 921 hospitals under the new employees' health scheme. Of these, 114 are government hospitals and 807 are private hospitals.
Establishment of 37 Wellness Centers
To provide outpatient medical services, medical tests, and medicines to employees, pensioners, and their family members, 12 wellness centers are currently operational in 12 districts, the minister said. He stated that it has been decided to set up another 25 wellness centers. Among these, 4 more centers will be established in high-density areas of Hyderabad and Medchal-Malkajgiri, along with centers in 21 other districts. With this, the total number of wellness centers will reach 37.
Rs. 55.14 Crores for 8,511 Cases So Far
The minister stated that since the launch of the scheme, pre-authorizations worth Rs. 55.14 crores have been issued for 8,511 cases so far.
Over 17 Lakh Beneficiaries
The minister stated that there are over 17 lakh beneficiaries under the new employees' health scheme. Digital health cards are being issued to eligible persons through a web portal. He mentioned that an option has been provided to download the health card independently using an OTP. The minister made it clear that health cards will be provided to everyone, and medical services will be delivered just as the employees desire.
